Dream Academy is a family friendly interactive narrative that invites players to relive what it’s like to be a school kid daydreaming in class. We’ve all been there, struggling to pay attention as our teacher drones on about… well, something or other. The boring classroom fades away, and we are transported to an alluring meadow, a forbidden temple or an enchanted forest. Instead of classmates, we are surrounded by magical butterflies, scarabs or possessed goblins. That boring number 2 pencil becomes our net, whip or magic wand, and we must hone our skills in preparation for a final battle against the Goblin King.
James Thurber’s New Yorker short story, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Chuck Jones’ animated classic, Ralph Phillips both serve as key inspiration for Dream Academy where players become immersed in a narrative where daydreams come to life. After all, why would you want to listen to your teacher when you can catch butterflies, whip scarabs or zap goblins?
